How many of you made new years resolutions?
Now the real question is, how many of you have stuck to them?
Personally I didn’t make any myself, but I know how hard it can be to form healthy habits. Now if you want more advice on this I highly recommend checking out Health Room where there are loads of resources to help you stick to your goals and make them a part of your routine!
It’s never too late to start. Who cares that we’re in June already, changes can be made any time and if it’s for the positive, the sooner the better.
Here’s what I’m aiming to do and hopefully writing this will hold me accountable as we all lose motivation.
Recently me and my partner have decided to learn Spanish. For me, when I visited Italy and realised most Italians I spoke to could also speak English, it made me feel inadequate and has spurred me on to learn a language. We chose Spanish as we thought it would maybe be the most useful to us and it’s meant to be one of the easier languages to learn for native English speakers.
I’ve been using the app ‘Duolingo’ to learn which has been amazing and I’d highly recommend it. I’ve also been listening to the ‘Discover Spanish’ podcasts when I go out for walks, definitely check those out too (if you want to learn Spanish that is!).
The last week or so I’ve noticed my enthusiasm has waned and I haven’t been doing my practise everyday, but I’m going to make the effort to just do even a bit a day to keep it ticking over.
One thing Health Room talks about is keeping your reason why in mind to keep you motivated. I have to remember that learning a language is going to make it easier to communicate whilst travelling (which is something we want to do).
So, that’s my mid-new year’s resolution! What’s yours? Are you going to start something new or pick up one that you’ve neglected? What’s your motivation to keep going? Let me know in the comments below!
